Emo is a rock music genre characterized by an emphasis on emotional expression, sometimes through confessional lyrics. It emerged as a style of mail service-hardcore from the mid-1980s hardcore punk movement in Washington, D.C., where it was known as emotional hardcore or emocore and pioneered by bands such equally Rites of Spring and Embrace. AFI is an American stone band from Ukiah, California, formed in 1991. Since 1998, it consists of lead vocalist Davey Havok, drummer and backing vocalist Adam Carson, bassist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Hunter Burgan, and guitarist, bankroll vocalist and keyboardist Jade Puget. Havok and Carson are the sole remaining original members. Originally a hardcore punk band, they have since delved into many genres, starting with horror punk and post-obit through post-hardcore and emo into alternative rock and gothic rock.
Further Seems Forever is an American rock band formed in 1998 in Pompano Beach, Florida. Over its initial eight-yr run the band experienced several lineup changes, resulting in a different pb vocalist performing on each of their outset iii studio albums. Original singer Chris Carrabba recorded The Moon Is Down (2001) with the group before leaving to start Dashboard Confessional. He was replaced by Jason Gleason, who performed on How to Starting time a Burn down (2003) merely left the band the following year. Former Sense Field vocalizer Jon Bunch joined Further Seems Forever for Hide Cipher (2004). The ring bankrupt up in 2006 but reunited four years later with Carrabba on vocals. Their quaternary studio anthology, Penny Black, was released in 2012.

Melodic hardcore is a broadly defined subgenre of hardcore punk with a strong emphasis on melody in its guitar piece of work. It mostly incorporates fast rhythms, melodic and often distorted guitar riffs, and vocal styles tending towards shouting and screaming. Nonetheless, the genre has been very diverse, with different bands showcasing very different styles. Many pioneering melodic hardcore bands, have proven influential across the spectrum of punk rock, as well every bit rock music more generally. Controlling the Famous was a Los Angeles, California-based indie rock ring formed in 2001. After signing with The Militia Group, the ring recorded the album Automated City, which was released on May 16, 2006. The band separate in 2007.
Mayday Parade is an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida. Their debut EP Tales Told by Expressionless Friends was released in 2006, and sold over 50,000 copies without whatever label back up. In July 2007, Mayday Parade released their debut anthology A Lesson in Romantics. After signing to Fearless in 2006, the band too signed onto a major label with Atlantic in 2009. Their 2nd studio album, Anywhere only Here was released in October 2009 and their third album, entitled Mayday Parade, was released in October 2011. Mayday Parade'southward 4th anthology, titled Monsters in the Closet, was released in October 2013. Their 5th album, titled Black Lines, was released October 2015. In April 2018, the band signed to Ascent Records and released their 6th studio album Sunnyland on June 15, 2018.
Emo pop is a fusion genre combining emo with the melodies of pop punk and/or popular music. Emo pop features a music style with more concise songs and hook-filled choruses. Emo pop began in the 1990s with bands like Jimmy Eat Globe, the Go Upward Kids, Weezer and the Promise Ring. The genre became mainstream in the early 2000s with Jimmy Consume World'due south album Bleed American, including the album's song "The Centre". In the 2000s, other emo pop bands that accomplished mainstream success included Fall Out Boy, the All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco and Paramore. The popularity of emo pop declined in the 2010s, with some prominent artists in the genre either disbanding or abandoning the emo popular mode.

The Trail of Dead has been known as something of a sprawling band e'er since the band'south first release in 1998.
